Swedish Massage For Seniors

For many seniors, treating themselves to a massage seems way too luxurious. After a long life of giving so much to their family, children, friends and community, the idea of taking the time to have a massage is a foreign concept. But did you know there are numerous health benefits to massage for seniors? A massage is not only a pleasurable experience, it can help alleviate many age-related ailments. It can be  an effective, natural, non-pharmaceutical solution to many of life’s aches and pains.

Custom Comfort Swedish Massage offers seniors a number of benefits that will greatly improve their health and wellbeing. Studies have shown that Swedish Massage has a direct impact in managing the effects of aging, such as muscular stiffness, arthritis, skin discolouration, muscle and bone deterioration, tendonitis, bursitis, and respiratory problems such as asthma and emphysema. It can help in bringing comfort to those suffering from other ailments such as depression, low self esteem and anxiety.

For arthritis sufferers, Swedish Massage can greatly assist pain management and increase range of motion. It also aids natural joint lubrication, which is extremely important for those suffering from arthritis.

Benefits of massage for seniors also include the reduction of headaches, increased strength and muscle coordination, improved posture by reducing muscle tension, increased quality of rest and sleep, and reduced injury healing time. Massage can boost one’s natural energy and mental awareness. Studies show that there is a place for massage therapy within the health care community. On top of this, the added  benefit of  the pleasure of a professional massage is priceless for many seniors. Careful massage can help provide relief from symptoms, increased vitality, and a sense of health and wellbeing.

Swedish Massage can be a gentle and/or a deep tissue massage. The muscles are warmed up gradually and gently with long, flowing strokes, and then pressure is increased gradually as needed and desired by the client.

Because of Gerry’s training background he is aware of the issues such as the physical changes seniors go through. For this reason, the techniques he uses during a massage are tailored to each specific client.
